Photographer Geoffrey Goddard adored the super-fast and extremely challenging Spa-Francorchamps road circuit in Belgium and this was one of his favourite vantage points, beside the Raidillon road section climbing out from the Eau Rouge ess bend in the bottom of the valley beyond the pits straight. Here during the 1970 Spa 1,000Kms race he has captured the electrifying commitment and pace of Mexican driver Pedro Rodriguez in the Gulf-JW Automotive team’s Porsche 917K.  Pedro co-drove it with young Finn Leo Kinnunen, but they were forced to retire after an oil pipe failed.
